These are just some sites that I have found helpful. Be warned, not all of them are tutorial or how-to sites, in fact, many will simply be sites that feature articles from photographers, or, simply, a blog run by a photographer. Reading as much as you can about photography, and, anything, really, is going to be very helpful in bettering yourself as a photographer, and an individual. Technical skill is but a minor part of photography.
This is easily one of the sites I visit most for cool behind-the-scenes videos from various photographers, as well as tutorials and nifty little tips on photography and post-processing. The Sean Armenta tutorials are great for people beginning to do portraiture or modeling work who need a good start on how to retouch skin and hair.
I stumbled upon Connor Keller’s design stuff online and found out he did photography too, associated with the collective known as Forty Sixty Photo. Early on, I learned a lot from reading their articles and going through their photos. Check out some of their tutorials here, and some of their articles here (it’s never a bad thing to read, in fact, read as much as you can, it’ll help you get better!).
I just found this site today, but I think it might prove to have some useful and interesting tidbits of information on it. Take a peak and let me know what you find helpful!
The “online magazine”, published by photographer Scott Bourne. Not a site with a lot of how-to or tutorial content, but worthwhile and interesting articles nonetheless. Give it a chance and you might learn something!
The blog of photographer Chase Jarvis. The dude posts some really inspiring and thought provoking content. He also shoots all sorts of work. Get at it!
Again, not necessarily how to or tutorial content, but great articles and inspiring content. He’s also just good at what he does and doesn’t use the most expensive glass available. Most of the time he is shooting with glass that kids using T2i’s could easily afford.
OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS TO CHECK OUT!!!
These are people who have either been a) friends, b) inspiring, or c) both. This will link to their Flickr pages!!!
